Scott Bennett, live at The Attic Comedy Club in Southampton

Scott Benett "great Scott tour show" is coming to our Southampton Comedy Club. Scott has recently been described by the Evening Standard as "Live Comedy's best-kept secret."

Scott Bennett has been blazing a trail through the stand-up circuit for the best part of a decade. He's a hilariously observational comic with an enviable gag rate.

Following his recent debut on BBC One's Live at the Apollo, Scott is an act on the verge of breaking through into the big time.

"Great Material, a very funny man" Rob Brydon
"A Joy to watch" Chris Ramsey

Scott Bennett's Comedy Career

Since Scott Bennett began performing stand-up comedy in late 2009, his popularity has soared. In 2018, he made an appearance on the BBC One show Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.

Additionally, his debut hour-long stand-up show About a Roy was nominated for the prestigious Amused Moose Comedy Award and made it onto the top 10 shows of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.

His last two shows, Leap Year and Relax were both nominated for the 'Best Show' Award at the Leicester Comedy Festival and he was recognized by Chortle as a "One to Watch" for 2018 & 2019.

In 2021, he recorded his first performance on BBC1's Live at The Apollo. He also appears frequently on various BBC Radio 4 programs such as The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant In The Room with Sarah Millican as well as Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer.

Scott achieved national recognition in 2020 for his viral hit, Stand Up from the Shed, a live-streamed weekly stand-up show conducted from his garden shed during the times of Covid-19. In recognition of this, he was presented with the "Best Act" award at the Comics Comic Awards - a prizegiving that is determined by comedians and promoters in the industry. Previous winners include Mick Ferry, Zoe Lyons and Ian Stone.

In 2021 he appeared in Nationwide adverts, whilst in 2022 he was nominated as Best Club Comedian in the Chortle Awards.

Additionally, between 2017-2018 Scott opened for Rob Brydon on his I Am Standing Up tour across the UK; as well as joined Michael McIntyre's Work in Progress shows at London's Duchess Theatre alongside fellow comedians Keri Godliman, Russell Kane and Ed Gamble.

“Without doubt live comedy’s best kept secret” The Evening Standard

“Bennett is a stand-up in fine control of his material, his delivery and his image, a masterclass in adding a frisson of ‘in the moment unpredictability to otherwise tightly written routines” ★★★★ – Chortle

“Great material, great delivery, a very funny man”  Rob Brydon

“Brilliantly funny, a joy to watch” Chris Ramsey

“Fabulous turns of phrase and pungent expressions, superb character creations” Edinburgh Fringe Review 2015, Chortle

“Clearly has a big future, flashes of Peter Kay, Jason Manford and John Bishop” ★★★★ – Bruce Dessau, Amused Moose Finals Review 2015

“immediately and accessibly funny stuff put across very engagingly” ★★★★ – TV Bomb, Edinburgh Fringe Review 2015

Aside from his stand-up comedy, Scott has a flair for writing. He was associated with BBC One's First and Last with Jason Manford as a programme associate, and he wrote content for Comedy Central’s The Chris Ramsey Show.

He penned stand-up material for accomplished performers like Jason Manford and Rob Brydon as well. Scott Bennett's work was featured on BBC Radio 4 shows such as The News Quiz and Citizen of Nowhere with Daliso Chaponda, while also contributing to the script of the BBC One program Little Mix – The Search hosted by Chris Ramsey.
