Rob Newman Live On Stage Tour - Saturday 15th of April
Rob Newman, the award-winning comedian, presents a new stand-up show that reflects on human history, from cave paintings to car-free cities. He inquires into questions such as "Who are we? Where are we going? And how do spiders fly?", exploring how prehistoric humans were saved by dancing in unison and drawing upon new scientific knowledge to look ahead at life after oil. This follows his successful BBC Radio 4 series Rob Newman On Air.
Starting his career in comedy as an impressionist in the late eighties, Newman achieved fame when he and fellow Cambridge students David Baddiel, Hugh Dennis, and Steve Punt appeared in the BBC radio and television show The Mary Whitehouse Experience (1989–92). This program was named in tribute to Mary Whitehouse, renowned for her campaign on moral decency in media. With this show, Newman and Baddiel found themselves celebrated as "pin-ups of the early nineties," receiving their own show after: Newman and Baddiel in Pieces (1993).
Although usually seen together performing sketches - most popularly History Today - on TV or stage shows, rumours abounded of tension between the two. These culminated with their last performance at Wembley Arena being part of their 'Live and In Pieces' tour.
