Lucy Porter comes to The Attic Comedy Club in Southampton

Lucy Porter comes to our Southampton Comedy Club to give a hilarious performance.

Lucy Porter is a comedic British actress and author. She has been featured at the Edinburgh Fringe and Brighton Festival as well as multiple renowned clubs across Britain. Additionally, she is often heard on BBC Radio 4 in various talk shows such as Quote... Unquote and The Personality Test.

Having graduated with an English Literature degree from The University of Manchester, Lucy Porter held a role as a journalist at the Big Issue in The North. While working on Granada Television's programmes such as The Mrs Merton Show, she decided to embark upon stand-up comedy and chose Chester as her first venue due to its distance from home so that, should the performance not go as hoped, she wouldn't be recognised.

Quickly transitioning into acting, Lucy made fleeting appearances in Life's a Pitch and Absolute Power. She was likewise featured in One2One's television advert for mobile phones in 2000. Her biggest breakthrough however came when she acted alongside Christian Slater in 2004's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest production at Edinburgh Fringe, later returning to play Nurse Ratched for the London show a year later.

For more than a decade, Lucy has been delighting comedy fans all over the nation with her energetic and cheerful style of humour. This has taken her to Far East locations like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Macau, Manila and beyond, as well as Europe in places such as Paris and Switzerland. She was even asked to appear on NBC's Last Comic Standing in Miami and given the chance to perform for NBC & HBO at their Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Lucy Porter can also frequently be seen at home in Britain performing at festivals such as Manchester, Glasgow and Kilkenny, plus other outdoor events such as Latitude.

In 2014, Lucy made a triumphant return to the Edinburgh Fringe with her 10th solo show, Me Time which toured in the Spring. Additionally, she took up playwrighting for the first time, creating an inspired and astutely humorous play entitled The Fair Intellectual Club. It was performed at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh during the Fringe and delved into the tribulations of being a brainy female in eighteenth-century Edinburgh. After enjoying resounding success in its original run, BBC Radio 4 decided to make a six-part drama series adaptation of Lucy's work; she wrote it for broadcast in 2016.

Lucy is no stranger to appearing on both TV and radio panel shows, loving the challenge of a good quiz. On a Celebrity special of BBC 1’s Pointless, she could often be seen alongside Ed Byrne attempting to answer pointless questions. In a Children In Need special, Lucy outdid Mark Watson and Dave Spikey for the title of Celebrity Mastermind Champion, with her record-breaking highest-ever celebrity score.
